A stimulation neutral chip is used to replace the retina implant of the blind patients ,because of the color of senile macular degeneration and retinitis, leading to blindness.
The retinal prosthesis chip is planned to replace light-sensitive photoreceptor cells (rod and cone), in order to stimulate the healthy layer neurons. The chip is made into the mold size of 2.5*2.5mm in the process of 0.35-μm N-well CMOS 2P4M mixing signals, including 4*4 pixels array, the power recovery unit, the data and clock receiver. Each pixel includes a CMOS image sensor element, bipolar pulse generator and cancelling charge module. Our chip applies percutaneous induction links, however, needs no external imaging and high-speed image information transfer. In addition, our chip makes full use of the optical system of the eye. Therefore, our prosthetic device has great advantage under the conditions of no additional cameras, which can simplify external accessories and reduce power consumption. In addition, the flexible electrode should be bond with chip and fixed on the stimulation position.
